Vacancy Announcement: WFP mVAM internship

WFP's mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (mVAM) team are looking for a communications intern. mVAM was launched in 2013 and uses mobile technology to collect data on food security. This involves contacting survey respondents through their moblie phone, using SMS, voice calls and chat platforms and investigating the ways to take advantage of emerging technologies for more rapid and accurate data collection. Currently the project has been implemented in 33 countries, including all Level 3 emergencies.

In 2017, the mVAM team will continue to provide support to WFP's global offices which use mVAM food security monitoring. Part of this support includes producing communications materials about the project, including written material, videos, podcasts and presentations.

The intern will be supporting the communicatoins officer in producing a range of communications products and assist with the following:

  • Blog posts, external articles and op-eds to document mVAM lessons learned, success stories and key findings;
  • Preperation of communications materials such as presentations, graphics, podcasts and videos
  • Support with social media (Twitter, Facebook)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
