Global Network Initiative

The Global Network against Food Crises (GNFC) initiative was launched in Istanbul at the WHS in May 2016 as the “Global Network for Food Insecurity, Risk Reduction and Food Crises Response” with the objective of enhancing the impact of future responses to food crises at the global level by regularly producing, in real time, joint reports based on key analyses.

The Global Report on Food Crises 2017 was the first step towards this commitment as it provided the required evidence base for coordination around decision making processes and resource allocations.

The Global Network Initiative, through the Global Report, its updates and the Global Network itself are ways to deepen analysis, forge consensus and inform programming along the Humanitarian Development nexus in food crisis contexts.
